Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. The first album she released with the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby released her first album of studio work on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012, when she released her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued to post her music online including her self-released single Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes, from Sweat It Out, July 21st in 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to create Rihanna references. It was announced on December 8 that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she performed together with Cozz on the Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. On October 21, 2016 the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened her own tour, the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with labelmates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. And Bas On Icarus. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single, Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on the 5th of September. Then on November 9 the singer released two new singles, forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. She then released on the 13th of November two singles titled One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. She appeared with Cole in The Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby On November 16and later she released the song as a single by herself on her debut album. This track, which was launched with a music video on YouTube 20 February 2019 was watched more than 3 million times within the first seven days. As a support act She toured together with 6LACK in December 2018 on their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
